Option 1:    Two Centre Walking Holiday

Based on Deia and Soller, this 8 day (7 night) holiday offers the opportunity to walk in the fabulous Tramuntana mountains, which run along the north west coast of Majorca. Many of the walks follow 2000 year old pilgrims’ trails and cover some of the most spectacular scenery in the whole of the Mediterranean.

There are walks planned every day, apart from one complete rest day, although you can opt out of walking any day if you so wish - it is up to you.

There are many different walks to try, but a typical itinerary is a follows:-

Day 1.

Fly into Palma airport. Local bus to the station to catch the 1920’s style, wood panelled train through the mountains to Soller on the west coast. Local bus to Deia, where we stay in a typical Spanish pension for 2 nights, near the top of the village, overlooking the valley. Deia is a delightful village, in a spectacular location, surrounded by mountains, and has been a popular haunt of artists and poets for many years. There are many restaurants to choose from. Dinner at a local restaurant (cost included).

Day 2.

Walk the Dukes Path from Valldemossa (5 hours). Breakfast on the terrace then a local bus to the splendid historic town of Valldemossa. We follow the Archduke Luis Salvador path up onto the high plateau below mount Teix (3000ft), which leads onto some of the most breathtaking views in Majorca. This is a circular walk back to Valldemossa, where we have time for some sightseeing before catching the bus back to Deia. Dinner at a local restaurant (cost not included).

Day 3.

Walk from Deia to Soller (4 ˝ hours). Breakfast on the terrace. Luggage sent on by road. We follow the path from the village down to the beach, where we pick up the coastal path past deserted coves and rocky headlands. After a cooling swim in the sea we head inland to join the old wayfarers’ route which takes us along the hillside, past Son Mico a beautiful antique manor house with magnificent views across the coast, before arriving in Soller. We stay for 5 nights in a lovely 4* hotel with a beautiful swimming pool. This hotel was formally a bishop’s palace. Dinner in a local restaurant (cost not included).

Day 4.

Rest day. Soller is an attractive traditional town famed for its citrus fruit growing, and surrounded by high peaks on three sides. The lovely old town square with cafés and restaurants is an ideal place for sitting and watching the world go by. It also has its own port and beach. Today you can sunbathe by the pool, lunch in the square, take an open- sided tram down to the port, go on the beach, visit the shops. There are many things to do and see in Soller. Dinner in a local restaurant (cost not included).

Day 5*.

Walk from Lake Cuber to Soller (4 hours). Local bus or taxi to Lake Cuber and then follow the old pilgrims’ trail along the valley, up over the Coll de L’Ofre into the high L’Ofre valley and down the cobbled steps of Es Barranc past ancient olive groves and rock faces to the small village of  Biniaraix, and back along the road to Soller. There is an optional climb up Es Cornadors with magnificent views over the Soller valley (1 hour extra). Dinner in a local restaurant (cost not included).
